January 27 – “Live at 5”

Why are so many people getting hit by cars?

I didn’t find out today but will try again later this week, please @KeriCDN to weigh in, kay.

Hamilton, Ontario is the waterfall capital of the world, there’s 125+ of them.  Click here for more from that exploration, and click here to see a city waterfall I once found.

The Toronto Star is Canada’s largest circulation paper, click here for more from that exploration.

Please send me any topics you’d like to read 100 words on, today Jeff would like to know about winter Olympic athletes.
Thanks for watching, TTYT!

January 25 – “Live at 5”

Learning about accreditation today.  Which turns out is a way bigger deal than you realize.

I received my official “you’re accredited” letter over the weekend, which means I’ll get a press pass and be granted access to some places.

Not all places though, that’s for journalists from the big guys (CTV / NBC) which makes sense – they paid the most for the rights to broadcast so they should get the best access. There’s 3 levels of journalists at the Olympics and now I’m in the 2nd tier.

Here’s the BC Media Centre; I’m probably going to hang out there a LOT.  They let you have as much internet as you want.

Thanks for watching, TTYT!

January 22 – “Live at 5”

I said I’d be on Queen Street and Peter today from 12:30 – 1:15 with my camera, come say hi to Canada.  And you did!

Have you seen that Twitpic of the sleeping TTC guy?  CBC reporter Michael Dick arrived to do a story on him and so we interviewed each other.  This was at 1:08pm.

And it was only after that did I realize every interview before I’d accidentally cut off the heads of everyone.

Thanks for taking the time, sorry I paid you back by decapitating you.

Tune in tonight at 7 for the telethon ‘Canada for Haiti’ and call in with your cash.  Details here:

Thank you for watching, TTYS.

January 20 – Live at Five

At Cherry Beach talking about things I have to do, about yoga, and some babbling.

This is a very simple episode, hardly any editing because I’m taking it back to scratch to figure out a more efficient system of doing this.

The 100-word-assignments are in preparation for when I go to the Olympics and have to write 100-word article each day for the paper Vancouver 24hrs.

Thanks for tuning in today, TTYT!

January 18 – “Live at 5”

We visit the beautiful Eastern Townships in Quebec thanks to Stephane’s photos.  Merci mon ami!

And I tell you about my upcoming job at the Olympics.

Thanks for tuning in, please send me your favourite place in Canada for my background, any size and resolution:  Keri at

Exploring Fashion Week

here for that time Chris and Jim made me bake a pie
– and here to see who branded this entire event… Jody!

LG Fashion Week is a big deal here in Toronto, and this year for the closing gala show Hoax Couture (one of Canada’s oldest and most prestigious fashion houses) got together with the Stephen Lewis Foundation to raise money for those suffering with AIDS in Africa.

25 of Canada’s top fashion designers created 25 couture pieces from fabric found in Africa. The support for this event was huge and many of Canada’s biggest names turned out to lend a hand including Brian Bailey who’s so great… like, he could give you the worst news ever and you’d still wanna hug him.

Via Rail’s new uniforms are looking good eh.  And it was funny to run into my hairdresser Brennen Demelo even though I shouldn’t have been surprised at all he was in charge of all the hair.

The models in the show were real people, in order of appearance:

– a nice model
– major CDN R&B singer Jully Black
Jessi Cruickshank from MTV Canada
– MP Olivia Chow
Traci Melchor from eTalk, wearing Hoax’s creation

… looking great, ladies!

A test of my latest invention, “Live at 5”.
