Operation Doors Open

Ryan, of DearToronto.com and I went to the HMCS York Naval Reserve down on Lakeshore Blvd.  This is the first time I’ve ever explored with anyone, and he filmed too.

I didn’t watch his video until I was done mine and it’s funny, we used a lot of the same footage – watch his below.  I especially love how he used the part where I’m like, “uhoh, I’m chewing gum on camera again” because oops I am.may 23 2009

This is Me Laughing Reallllly Hard

may 21 2009

Last night my brother called around 11:30pm, and until midnight that’s what I looked like… screaming, jackknifing and I couldn’t breathe.  I knew it was wrong to be so loud that late we but we could not stop; my laugh carries, it just comes out that way.

One time I was dying in a parking lot and three floors up someone’s head pops out the window, “Keri?  I recognized your laugh” and snap, an old friend I hadn’t seen in years.

Those aren’t stills; 3/4 of the way in I turned on my Flip.

Exploring CDN Blogging

Rannie and I are at the R.C Harris Water Treatment Plant on Queen St. East in Toronto, aka, one of my new favourite places to be; it’s exactly like being in a real-life version of Myst.

While we were filming some workers showed up and I pitched to get us inside, but they weren’t buying.  They said since 9/11 all tours have ceased.  And there’s a new guy running the place who is intent on bringing the property up to his high standards… apparently the brass inside is amazing, and all the windows that were once bricked over and slowly being replaced with bullet proof glass.

Exploring Ice Fishing

I came up to Eagle Lake with Andy, who brought along his friend (and my new one), Tex.

Quick story: while sitting on the ice Tex told us how there was a group of professional divers working in the lake a few years back.  All of a sudden they shot up to the surface and refused to ever ever go down into the lake again.  They were that spooked AND refused to talk about what they saw.  And these guys are professionalsmarch 5 2009

Weird eh?  And Tex is not a guy to elaborate or be dramatic; I believe every word. He said maybe they saw an Ogopogo.  Me: “what is that?”.

Well!  Turns out Canada has it’s very own Lock Ness Monstor kinda guy, an Ogopogo.  I added that to my trip list > Go visit the Ogopogo in BC.  Along with searching for the Sasquatch, we will be busy.

Exploring Art with Eldon

Meet Eldon Garnet, an elite Canadian artist.  If you live in Toronto for sure you’ve passed by some of it, he makes giant stuff.  We’re at Bar-Italia (warning: music plays).

He’s also written 4 books, was the guy behind Impulse Magazine for 15 years, teaches at the OCAD and is a photographer as well.  I don’t much like his photographs though so can’t speak to that.

Thanks for a great lunch Eldon!  And like the screenshot I chose for below?
