Wasn’t gonna tell ya but kay, here’s what happened.
On Friday I got a new desk, you might have seen a bunch of Tweets about it. Here’s my old one, an oak dining room table from the 1890s:
I loved it so much, especially the claw feet. Always wanted something with claws since reading a book when I was very little.
I had a hard time parting with it because I invented my whole show from it.
So why get rid of it then?
My ‘Blog Party‘ was November 17, right? One month before that I got a fever, a low grade one. Then 2 weeks before my legs got covered in hives.
For sure I was stressed about my party, but that’s not how it comes out. Then it hit me 2 days before the party… based on the location of the VERY itchy hives (there’s more, not showing you those) and Googling my symptoms I had… mold poisoning. I crawled under my desk and it was black.
So I did this…
… until my party was over and I could deal with it. And soon as I stopped sitting at it my fever disappeared in 12 hours and I was normal again.
So meet Ron, owner of Elbers Antiques who now has the cursed desk. He even knows the guy I bought the desk from years ago, weird eh?
Me: It’s very important this goes to a good home.
Ron: Maybe you could vet the people, I could have them call you.
Me: I know you’re joking but I’m not; yes I think you should do that.
When he took the leg to the elevator it broke in half. It was time for it to go, I’d been breaking on me since 2007. Then he built my new one for me.
I love it. I can lean on it. No more, “no no don’t lean on here!” when people come over. And I chose one made of plastic.
holy wow – mold poisoning.
glad that is sorted.
really like your new table – it is very similar to my outside table!
Crazy right eh Suzy? Only me.
That’s absolutely horrifying. I am going to burn every piece of wood furniture that I see.
Haha Bodie, that’s a funny video in my head… you walking around with a torch and touching everything with it.
I seen somewhere where you said you said you were getting a himidifier, get a de-humidifire that takes the moisture out, a humidifier puts moisture in the air creates more mold.
Thanks A Friend, yup. I feel much better now that the desk is gone, but if I were to get a de-humidifier I might wake up crispy and with more nosebleeds :)
