My 2012 Prediction

You know how the Mayans predicted in the year 2012 something huge would happen?  What I think it will be is this:

It’ll be the year that humans begin to control things with their minds.  Thought-reading, powering and moving objects via thought, transmitted through clunky connectors attached to our forheads and secured with headbands.

It’ll start off small… “change the channel by changing your mind!”, gimmicky things.  Then we’ll be dialing phones, linking into the information net, thinking to Twitter, you get the idea.  It’ll grow big and get away from us, get its own act together, it’s the beginning of the proverbial end.

Far in the future there’ll be a small group of unpopular people who, instead of downloading the lastest skill set off the ever-present thought net, they’ll choose to learn “the old fashioned way”, trial and error, day by day, slooowly.

note: researchers have concluded the Mayans never said doomsday was gonna happen in that year, just that something big was coming

note: for a Wikipedia list of things happening in that year, click here.  It’s the transit of Venus that gets me.  One happened in 2004, one will happen on June 5 then not again for 105 years.

Holy crap…I’ve been predicting the same thing. Perhaps we’ve been embedded with the same chips and at the prescribed time, our devices with be activated, enabling telepathic capabilities powered by Obama’s globalist government.

I for one welcome our new dark overlords with their singularity and transhumanist tendencies, provided I can use my new powers to do laundry for me.

I am definitely not embedded with a chip, fact. And I read your comment three times, there’s too many big words! But I don’t done welcome that new fangled thing nope :)

Darn you Keri… After reading your thoughts above, I love you even more. Actually, I love Twitter because it is simply the best way for me to instantly share thoughts with others. I know that the Star Wars toy is probably just an alpha wave sensor(s) that translate the into a visual Jedi cliche. Still, if you get one of those, let get together to have alpha wave parties. As you know from our conversation, I am highly competitive when it comes to competitions involving brains. My girlfriend Annie and I already have a weird ability to communicate "telepathically" (for lack of a better word for it). Did you know that my friend Rob is a BIG Star Wars fan? Maybe we all should get together for a "brainwave smackdown" sometime soon. Again Keri, sure you are gorgeous, but I love your brain even more.

First, the toy we’re talking about is here:

Hey Greg – haha, I love competition! I’m not gonna buy one, but would like to try one indeed.

Oh they’re beta waves, not alpha ones, to be technical.

That is awesome about you and your girl being able to do that, "brainwave smackdown" made me lol, and re: your last line, now _that’s_ a compliment :)
