Open eyes, walk out door, get coffee, read paper. I’m gonna miss this.
Yesterday I learned that turns out I’m writing for BC’s third largest newspaper, what?! Bigger than The Globe, the National Post, omg.
I’m gonna miss this routine.

Way to go Keri – post me a copy.
Hi Keri,
Great site.. I bumped into you at Heineken House yesterday at the Surface table. I’m gonna have to start living vicariously through your experiences now. :-) As you know first-hand Canada is a huge and beautiful country that is still untouched in many places. I’ve seen parts of the BC wilderness that are utterly amazing when flying around the backcountry with my dad in the 70s and early 80s (my dad used to fly floatplanes).
BTW, if you are in town you should try to check out Rachael Chatoor. She is a fantastic local singer (and mom) who performs around town (her band did a rendition of Heart’s Crazy on You that gave me chills). She is at the Boulevard Casino in Coquitlam, Feb 19 and 20 with the group The Hitmen and is a very active blogger.
She is also actively involved in running in the local Vancouver chapter of the League of Rock (which is big in Toronto). The next season of LOR starts March 3rd at The Yale in downtown Vancouver (if you are still in town).

I hope you and your camerman/editor are having a great time in Vancouver. Have fun and stay safe. :-)
Cheers,
Brad
Hey Suzy – I’ve been saving them all and will backdate them when I have more time.
Brad, hey dude!
Ya that Surface was cool, eh? First time I’ve ever touched one in real life. I’d have programmed different content into it (remember how much that one lady kept showing up?) but hey.
If I can pull it off tonight I’ll check out Rachael, thanks for the tip. And what a way to see BC, from a floatplane. I’ve added that to my to-do list now.
I’m loving your city, and I’d like to stay. That was my friend who lives here, so just a cameraman for a day, and I do all my own editing, I love Final Cut! Pretty geeky eh!
Have fun too, enjoy the Games!
Hey Keri,
I’ve caught up on most of your blog posts since the Olympics. Sounds like you had the experience of a lifetime. If you liked our weather a few weeks ago you should see it now. All the cherry trees on our street in the ‘burbs are in bloom, our magnolia is starting to bloom, and all the bulbs (tulips, gladiolas, etc) are starting to come up.
As for the surface table, it was very cool. I was amazed at how much of a techie geek you were by getting it to work when I couldn’t decipher the Dutch menus. I kept thinking how much fun it would have been to have played an old arcade game on that thing (e.g. Asteroids, Pong, Centipide, etc).
Final Cut? Cool. I just picked up a license of Pinnacle Studio for our home computer and was stunned when I found out that my son (12 yrs old) was able to master it in about a day and has already finished his first video with background music, transitions, 3D titles, scrolling end credits, and used a green screen to overlay some friends on some of the video segments.
I wish you all the best with your journalism career and passion for exploring. I remembered years ago just getting in my car and driving to remote parts of BC to see how far I could get and what new sights I could see. I’m the kind of person who likes to stop at all the tourist stops so I don’t miss a thing. Of course, that can make for a much longer road trip for the less patient individuals who are along for the ride. :-)
Cheers,
Brad
P.S. I’ve just created a new blog and twitter account. If you need eyes and ears on the ground in Vancouver…let me know.

aHAHA – that’s what I just did when I saw the name you’d given yourself.
Dear SurfaceTableBrad,
Ya you said it, ‘of a lifetime’. It’s still all sinking in to be honest, and as I go back to blog and I’m like, oh ya, there was that too. There’s also a bit of, "did that actually happen?", not being dramatic.
But about your weather, I heard it snowed there this week?! I was concerned about the cherry trees. Hope the city doesn’t get anymore cause the snow shut you guys totally down last year, eh?
Yup, Final Cut, I looove editing. And sounds like your son is a natural, yes little guy! Pass onto him to beware of the time-suck. Seriously, you sit down to edit and 4 hours later you look around and realize you haven’t moved.
Thank you, and love how you just got in your car and went. There’s something about not knowing your destination and living on the road, eh? And I’m with ya, I like to stop at everything too and can’t stand missing out on stuff. For the ones who don’t like that, they shouldn’t come in our cars :)
